Four kidnapped NYSC members freed

Four serving members of the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) who were kidnapped have been freed by their captors, Nasarawa State Police Command has said.

The NYSC members reportedly kidnapped in Gudi, along Keffi-Akwanga Road on Wednesday.

Nasarawa State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Samaila Usman, said the victims were set free on Thursday around 9.30pm after sustained pressure from the search party.

The search part according to the command comprised men from Police Mobile Force, Counter Terrorism Unit and conventional policemen assembled by the Commissioner of Police, Bola Longe.

“The victims have been reunited with their families,” the PPRO said.

In a related development, the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Nasarawa State council, has condemned the abduction of the wife of a member of the union, Abubakar Lawal, who works with Triumph Newspaper.

The NUJ National Vice President, Wilson Bako, said the state council was saddened by the incident and urged President Muhammadu Buhari to beef up security in the country.

The spate of kidnap has gone up in the northern part of the country recently. In Plateau for instance, school children are the target of kidnappers in exchange for money.
