Npower applicants should disregard the purported shortlist which has gone viral on the social media, and Nigeria’s popular online forum, support centre agent of npower said in a telephone interview with infomediang correspondent.
The agent who didn’t want her name in the media said it’s not possible to shortlist names of successful candidates” when application is still ongoing.” She advised applicants to disregard such report.
She said the portal and the Official Facebook Page of Npower has up to date information about the programme. She advised applicants to call the dedicated support centre lines of npower “for confirmation before spreading rumor” capable of misleading others.

N-power is an initiative of the APC-led government of President Muhammadu Buhari aimed at preparing unemployed young Nigerians for a knowledge economy.
N-Power addresses the challenge of youth unemployment by providing a structure for large scale and relevant work skills acquisition and development while linking its core and outcomes to fixing inadequate public services and stimulating the larger economy.
The modular programmes under N-Power will ensure that each participant will learn and practice most of what is necessary to find or create work.
The N-Power Teacher Corp involves a massive deployment of 500,000 trained graduates who will assist to improve the inadequacies in our public services in education, health and civic education.
Some of these graduates will also help in actualising Nigeria’s economic and strategic aspirations of achieving food security and self-sufficiency.

She also told infomediang that the official closing date for N-Power application remains August 1, 2016. Though, the programme begins August 1, 2016, according to the information on N-Power registration portal. When she was asked about August 1, commencement date which was still on the N-Power portal at the time of writing this report, she said, “that will be corrected as quick as possible.”
The application process commenced on June 12, 2016 and was expected to close on July 25, 2016, before the Federal Government announced extension in application.

N-power Teachers Corps: 500,000 jobs for unemployed Nigerian graduates
N-power Teachers Corps houses N-power Agro, N-power health, N-power teach, and N-power Community education.
The N-Power Teacher Corps is expected to engage and train 500,000 young unemployed graduates.
It is a paid volunteering programme of a 2-year duration. The 500,000 graduates under the N-Power Corps programme will get computing devices that will contain information necessary for their specific engagement, as well as information for their continuous training and development.

N-Power Knowledge Programmes: 25, 000 jobs for unemployed Nigerian youths
The N-Power Knowledge programme is sub-divided into three areas: N-power creative (targeting 5,000 unemployed Nigerian youths), N-power Tech Hardware (targeting 10, 000 Nigerian youths), and N-power Tech software (targeting 10,000 people). This programme, according to the Federal Government, will work alongside the planned eight innovation hubs across the country to provide incubation and acceleration of the technology and creative industries.
The programme is a ‘Training to Jobs’ initiative, essentially ensuring that participants can get engaged in the marketplace in an outsourcing capacity, as freelancers, as employees and as entrepreneurs.

N-Power Build is an accelerated training and certification (Skills to Job) programme that will engage and train 75,000 young unemployed Nigerians in order to build a new crop of skilled and highly competent workforce of technicians, artisans and service professionals.
