The trending FAKE NEWS in the past two weeks is: Apply now Federal Government ready to pay N75,000 to those who served between 2000-2016.
This news is untrue. and most of the blogs that published the story all have one major purpose.
One thing we all need to get clear is: Federal Government can’t undertake such a huge project without massive publicity.
We all know how the N-power Temporary Job Programme was publicized before its commencement.
Two, the total number of Nigerian graduates mobilized for NYSC in 2016 alone was 260, 000 Guardian Nigeria reports.
In 2015, (2, 609) corps members were mobilized for the Batch B Stream 2 for that year alone. The huge number of Nigerians higher institutions chunk out every month triggered the introduction of streams by the National Youths Service Corps in 2014.
Why you should not believe such FAKE NEWS
Let’s peg the number of corps members (each year) from 2000-2016 at 150, 0000, for a period of 7-year that makes over 1,050,000 ex-corps members.
When that figure is multiplied by N75,000 it’s close to N79 Billion. At this time?
Please disregard the news.

What is NYSC Official Facebook Page
The official Facebook Page of the National Youth Service Corps is @officialnysc which can be found at www.facebook.com/officialnysc
In our research, we also found out that some of the blogs only copied and pasted, when the first originator of the news published.
A webmaster is expected to verify any news before he published, but we found out that those who published knew the aim, and therefore joined the bandwagon.
What NYSC Official says
“It’s not true. FG can’t embark on such huge financial project without carrying the NYSC along. We have the figure of ex and serving corps members with which such can be done,” an NYSC official who doesn’t want his name mentioned told us on phone.
