- Nigerians say Gbajabiamila would be Tinubu’s puppet
A stalwart of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) Mr Femi Fani-Kayode has begun a campaign for a member of the ruling All progressive Congress (APC) to become the next Speaker of the House of Representatives.
The PDP member known for his harsh criticisms of the APC-led government today twitted in support of Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, a federal legislator from Lagos State, South-West, Nigeria.
Gbajabiamila is the favourite candidate of the National Leader of All Progressive Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
“I have known Femi Gbajabiamila (@femigbaja)for 40 years and I can assure you that he will make a great Speaker of the Fed. House of Representatives. We may disagree politically but I must confess that he is a profoundly good man representing a great constituency.I wish him well.”
Nigerians say Gbajabiamila would be Tinubu’s puppet
Meanwhile, a cross section of Nigerians have criticised the choice of Gbajabiamila by the party, saying he’d be the puppet of Tinubu, his political godfather and the executive.
See some of their comments below:
@Rony37220245: For the fact that he is Tinubu puppet we don’t want him and Ahmad Lawan who happens to be buhari’s.We just one somebody from neutral background who won’t be controlled by Aso rock cabals
@doublejackson: I disagree with you. Him becoming the Speaker will turn the house to a rubber stamp unit of d executive
@GodmanOgah: I said so for the 8th assembly before the Hon.Dogara assumed that office, and Femi still stand out to fill it: he’s a great guy
@bahisulhaq: One thing I hate with you is”you are too sentimental “
@JamesOkene: He is qualified but a man that worked against the passage of our electoral act is not good enough to be a speaker. Those that failed the people can’t be rewarded with higher position. Femi Gbajabiamila will not give us a new electoral act because of 2023 interest of his backers.
@ConstanceJust19: But he was against the move by the leadership of the Senate to seek legal interpretation of the unconstitutional removal of the CJN. Both him and Ahmed Lawan supported the unconstitutional removal of the CJN by the shameless tyrant cum election rigger. Those who supported evil
@1KANNOT:So Vice President South West and Speaker House of Rep South West???
@WhiteAmadasun: With due respect sir. I hope you have not forgotten Femi is a Moslem and you have always stood against Moslem-Moslem leadership. Ahmed Lawan is also a Moslem, are there not competent and qualified Christians for the position in the South-West? Clarification please.
@WhiteAmadasun: May I remind you that, under Yar’adua’s Regime the Service Chiefs, NSA, NIA, NSCDC, Customs, Prisons, Immigration, EFCC, NNPC et al were equitably spread along Regional & Religious lines. Can you say this under Buhari? He has given priority to Moslems more than Christians QED.
@BusinessBaba1: There is no other person in the SW that stands a chance for the speakership. Moreover, Gbaja is a cosmopolitan like Tinubu — has Tinubu ever marginalised Christians in the SW? We have only one devil in the SW and that’s Razak Akintola of MURIQ — the rest of us M and C are one.
@justice7jesus: Let’s be realistic.if u observe you’ll see that SS and SE don’t vote APC cos they’re PDP strongholds!only SW vote APC in d south! President from North Vice president from South Senate President from North Speaker from South And that South has to be d SW!
@ShittaAdeol: An so, b/cos apc rules nigeria they should stop allocations to other state?, if we still want one nigeria they should zone it to other zone, in 1999 sw didn’t vote PDP but sw us d one zone enjoy democracy then
@ikah_gerald: I have soft spot for Femi, a great leader of quintessential personality…I have closely watched his contributions on the floor of the house with great admiration, regardless of our political differences, I always wish my country, Nigeria, d best! It’s left for 360 mbrs to decide.
At the time of compiling this report, PDP hasn’t reacted. Fani-kayode is one of the controversial members of the PDP.
