Five new cases of deadly coronavirus have been recorded in Lagos, Kwara and Katsina states as Easter Sunday is celebrated globally.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) made the announcement on its official Twitter page at exactly 21:00, Sunday, April 12, 2020
The five new cases bring the total number of confirmed cases to 323 in Nigeria, 85 discharged, while 10 fatalities were recorded so far.
“Five new cases of #COVID19 have been reported as follows: 2 in Lagos 2 in Kwara 1 in Katsina.
“As at 09:10 pm 12th April there are 323 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria. 85 have been discharged with 10 deaths There are 19 states with confirmed cases in Nigeria,” NCDC tweeted.
According to the data on cases of coronavirus in Nigeria, Lagos has the highest number of cases, FCT comes second, Osun with 20 cases is third followed by Edo State with 12 confirmed cases.
One of the measures taken by President Muhammadu Buhari on March 31, 2020, was ordering lockdown in Lagos, Ogun and FCT, but some states across the country took the same measure to curb the spread of the virus.
On Saturday, April 11, 2020, the president further urged Nigerians to continue to stay at home and to wash their hands to help save lives.
