Idriss Déby Accuses Nigeria of releasing captured Boko Haram fighters
A two-minute, 17 seconds video has shown Chadian President Idriss Déby accusing Nigerian authority of releasing captured Boko Haram fighters.
A few days ago, Derby, a retired Army General, was seen in a military gear where he led his troops to confront Boko Haram fighters at the Goje-Chadian area of Sambisa forest where over 1,000 insurgents were killed in the onslaught and seized thousands of weapons belonging to the outlawed group.
After the onslaught which is the deadliest attack on Boko Haram in years, the Chadian President hinted that Nigerian soldiers were not part of the team that killed some members of the dreaded group.
Before that, the Abubakar Shekau-led Boko Haram fighters had launched an attack on Chadian soldiers and killed over 70 in the process.
When announcing how he plans to permanently defeat the insurgents in the Lake Chad region, the Chadian President ordered his soldiers not to allow their Nigerian counterparts free captured Boko Haram insurgents.
In a video which went viral on the social media, President Déby is seen telling the troops that if Boko Haram fighters were freed, they’d come to Chad to terrorise his people.
Derby who spoke in French said, “This place will be our zone until Nigeria sends its soldiers. Stay with them for about a month. Do not let them free captured weapons or any Boko Haram terrorists, they will return to Chad and this will just hurt us.”
His soldiers were seen hailing while he spoke, “So let them just understand. We are not leaving the situation like this.
“In the next few days, I will speak with the President of Niger. You guys destroyed at least 90 per cent of Boko Haram.
“That I confirm and can tell the world that 90 per cent of Boko Haram is destroyed. The 10 per cent that are left are running everywhere,” he said.
He confirmed that some of the insurgents drowned while some of them escaped and ran saying, “but they will never come to Chad again. Chad is no place for Boko Haram.”
It isn’t the first time the Chadian president would be indicting Nigerian authority in the fight against insurgency.
In March 2015 during the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan, he stated that Nigeria was absent from the war against Boko Haram.
At the time of this report, Defence Headquarters was yet to respond to Derby’s allegation.
Agidigbo Radio goes up in flames in Ibadan
A newly established radio station in Ibadan Agidigbo Radio has been gutted by fire on Saturday, April 11, 2020, where property worth several million were destroyed.
The station is located at Monatan.
Agidigbo FM is an online radio owned by a popular broadcaster in the city, Dr. Oriyomi Hamzat.
Cause:
The cause of the fire outbreak was unknown at the time of this report, an eye witness said the station was under locks and keys at the time of the incident.
Firefighters arrived at the scene a few minutes after 11AM said “None of the workers of the radio station was around at the time of the outbreak.”
The Director of Oyo State Fire Service, Moshood Adewuyi, “The people around there alerted us around 11am”
He confirmed that one man was electrocuted, “But, thank God, it was not much. What happened was that as soon as our men arrived at the scene, we directed our control room to instruct the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company to cut power supply to the area,” saying there was no casualty.

Buratai relocates to Boko Haram Stronghold After Chad Killed 1,000 Insurgents
Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen Tukur Buratai has reportedly relocated to the North East, strongholds of the deadly terrorist group, Boko Haram after Chadian troops killed at least 1,000 insurgents a few days ago.
Army Headquarters in Abuja, on Friday, April 10, 2020 said Buratai while at the Special Super Camp, Ngamdu in the Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State, promised to remain with them to combat the terrorists.
“The Chief of Army Staff has relocated fully to the North-East where he is overseeing and directing the overall operation in the theatre and other army operations across the country.
“The army wishes to reassure Nigerians that it is highly committed to protecting law-abiding citizens and defending our territorial integrity,” Army Headquarters said in a statement.
His relocation to the North East, the epicentre of the fighting between Nigerian Troops and Boko Haram followed a significant success Chadian Troops recorded over Boko Haram fighters a few days ago.
In a video which went viral on social media, President Idriss Déby Itno of Chad was seen leading his troops at the frontline to battle the deadly group, days after Boko Haram fighter killed close to 80 Chadian soldiers. It was reported that Chadian Troops kill more than 1, 000 Boko Haram fighters.
Ex-Senator Robert Koleoso dies in UCH
A former senior lawmaker at the National Assembly Senator Robert Koleoso is dead, a family member said Thursday, April 9, 2020.
Mr Koleoso who represented Oyo North senatorial district between 2003 and 2007, hails from Saki area of Oyo State.
Confirming the news a relative to the Koleoss, Adeniyi Adebisi, said that the ex-Oyo Senator died at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan.
